Semi-deciduous shrub with the mostly waxy-blue canes rooting at the tip, primocanes prickly. Leaves on primocanes of 3-5 leaflets, each to 8 cm long, greyhairy; those on the floricanes of 3 leaflets or 3-lobed. Flower clusters on short lateral shoots and without prickles; summer. Fruit to 2.5 cm long, red.
