Snow Pear

Small tree. Young shoots with a pronounced white down. Leaves to about 7 cm long, 3 cm wide, hairy on both surfaces at first, saw-teeth prominent, with strong mucros, but not bristled. Flowers in white clusters; early spring. Fruit roundish, on a long stalk.

C & SE Europe.

VIC: Malvern (street tree, at 2 Ethel St); 2 Snowden Place off Canterbury Road (moribund tree dating to c. 1950s).
