Kalanchoe blossfeldiana Poelln.

Fleshy, branching perennial herb to about 30 cm tall. Leaves opposite, ovate to oblong, 3-8 cm long, 2.5-5 cm wide, blunt to slightly pointed, wavy and/or shallowly round-toothed towards the tip, stalks to about 2 cm long. Flower clusters dense, more or less flat-topped, scarlet; winter.

Under this name a range of plants, generally of complex hybrid origin, is available. They are grown as long-lasting, ornamental, winter-flowering, indoor pot plants with flower colours including yellow, pink and red to purple or orange. Strictly, as the hybrid parents are not known and there is no hybrid name, cultivars should be listed under the genus although K. blossfeldiana is probably a major parent. The cultivars K  'Blues' PVR 5(1)7 and K 'Mazurka' PVR 5(1)7 are also available.
