Mostly erect, small shrubs to about 40 cm tall. Leaves spreading, lanceolate, mostly 2-4 cm long, 2-4 mm wide, flattened to cylindrical, pointed, mostly green, occasionally slightly waxy-blue. Flowers white, about 3 mm long; summer. Stamens with brown anthers.
Occasionally naturalised around habitations in SA, NSWand Vic. C. perfoliata L. is similar but has much longer, more pointed leaves.
