Deciduous shrub to 4 m or more tall. Leaves mostly lanceolate to ovate to 7 cm or so long, entire. Flowers in clusters, white to pink about 7-8 mm long; spring. Fruit a blue-black waxy-blue sweet and edible berry about 8 mm wide.
