Perennial with a creeping rootstock. Leaves to 4 cm long, heart-shaped at the base, smooth on slender stalks, margins round-toothed. Flowers about 1.5 cm wide, pinkish purple, lateral petals hairy at the base; spring to summer. [V. transsilvanica Schur]
