Shrub or small tree. Leaves swollen at junction of stalk and blade; margins regularly toothed; domatia present; hairs absent. Flowers with petals fringed, white or pink; late spring to early summer. Fruit blue.

Grows naturally in gullies or near water, mostly in rainforest.
