Paeonia officinalis L.

Herb to about 50 cm tall. Leaves twice divided into 3, the segments having pointed tips. Flowers over 10 cm wide with spreading petals; spring. Stamens with red filaments; spring to summer. Carpels 2-3, densely hairy.
