Thelocactus leucacanthus (Pfeiff.) Britton & Rose

Body generally clustering, to 15 cm tall and 5 cm wide. Ribs 7-14. Tubercles with areoles close together and with nectaries. Central spines 1 or 0, when present to 5 cm long. Radial spines 6-20 to 7 mm long. Flower 2-4.5 cm wide, mostly yellow to violet. Fruit greenish, dry, opening by basal pore.
