Neoporteria odieri (Lem.) Backeb.

Body solitary or clustering, compressed spherical. Ribs 8-13, markedly tuberculate. Central spines 0-1, radial spines 6-10. Flowers white, yellow or pink and woolly tubed. [N. occulta (Phil.) Britton &Rose]

N. jussieui (Monville) Britton & Rose has 12-17 ribs with extremely prominent tubercles and relatively few more or less equal spines.

N. napina (Philippi) Backeb. is similar to N. odieri but has a sparsely bristly flower tube.
