Ferocactus pilosus (Salm-Dyck) Werderm.

Body solitary, occasionally clustering becoming cylindrical. Ribs 13-20. Areoles close-set on mature plants. Central spines straight and a charact­eristic red, radials whitish and hair-like or absent. Flowers reddish. Fruit yellow sometimes tinged red.
