Dutchman's Pipe

Stems spreading, major stems cylindrical side shoots flattened and with scalloped edges. Flowers nocturnal, fragrant. Fruit red.

Related plants with scalloped or toothed margins include E. pumilum (Vaupel) Britton & Rose from S Mexico and Guatemala, E. crenatum (Lindl.) G. Don from Mexico to Hinduras, and E. phyllanthus (L.) Haw. from Panama to Brazil (for differences see key). E. stenopetalum (Frst.) Britton & Rose from Mexico has flowers with numerous extremely narrow, creamy petals.
