Stems with large, deep lobes. Flowers fragrant lasting at least 2 days, the perianth segments yellow suffused red on the outside. Fruit green.

E. chrysocardium Alexander from Mexico has deeply cut stems to 1 m or more long. Flowers purplish towards the tip, white inside.
