Echinocereus scheeri (Salm-Dyck) Scheer

Body erect or creeping cylindrical to 20 cm with 8-10 ribs. Areoles with 7-12 brown or blackish tipped white spines to 20 mm long. Flowers crimson, 12 cm long.

var. gentryi (Clover) N.P. Taylor Erect or creeping cylindrical to 15 cm, 1.5-4 cm wide with 4-5(-7) ribs. Areoles spineless or with 8-12 radial spines to 2 mm long. Flowers bright pink 8-12 cm long.
