Aquilegia caerulea James

Herb to about 80 cm tall. Flowers erect, pale to dark blue. Sepals 2-4 cm long, blue, spreading. Petals white, spurs 3-5 cm long, narrow, straight, blue; late spring. Stamens not protruding from flower. Fruit follicles hairless.

W North America

Variable and with a range of cultivars including 'Kristall'.
