Commemorating Hermann Christ, a Swiss pteridologist.

Fast-growing terrestrial ferns with soft fronds. Rhizome erect or creeping; scales narrow. Sterile and fertile fronds similar. Fronds divided once. Blades with side branches lobed or cut, the lowermost segments usually small, lower surface softly hairy at least along the veins; veins of lower branch segments usually netted. Indusium roundish to kidney-shaped, hairy.

c. 40 species from the tropics and subtropics (5 in Australia).

Spores or division.

Fronds with extremely short basal segments; blades hairy.
