Hypolepis tenuifolia (G.Forst.) Bernh.ex C.Presl

Rhizome to 1 cm wide with pale brown hairs at tip, elsewhere hairs sparse. Blade broadly ovate to elliptic in outline, to well over 1 m long, divided 2 times at the tip to 4-5 times at the base, covered on both surfaces with glandular and non-glanular hairs. Stalk dark brown at base paling upwards. Sori with quite broad membranous flaps.

Needs shelter and warmth.

New Guinea, Polynesia, SE Asia.

Thick frond stalks, glandular-hairy fronds and distinct indusial flaps.

 

H. dicksonioides (Endl.) Hook. from New Zealand and Norfolk Island is occasionally cultivated and differs in having totally membranous, broad, not distinctly tapered indusial flaps.
