Hypolepis lactea Brownsey & Chinnock

Rhizome 1-2 mm wide, covered with red-brown hair. Stalks purple-red at least at the base. Blade more or less ovate, divided to 3 or 4 times at the base, older fronds with whitish substance on upper surface. Sori hardly protected.

Can grow in cool areas.

Dark red frond stalk for most of length; blade covered with glandular hairs and, at maturity, a milky white exudate on the upper surface of the frond.
