Lacy Ground Fern

Rhizome long-creeping, thick. Fronds to 1 m long, triangular to lanceolate in outline, divided 3 times, soft, delicate and membranous. Frond stalk dark, red-brown, hairless except at the base, midrib hairy. Segments finely dissected. Sori small at the end of veins in the notches of the terminal segments. Indusia cup-like, mostly single in upper inner notch of ultimate segment, outer indusium formed from segment margin.

Can grow in cool areas.

SA, Qld, NSW, Vic., Tas.

Extremely thin, lacy, deciduous fronds with shiny red-brown stalks and tiny cup-like indusia.

 

Calochlaena dubia (Dicksoniaceae) differs in having axial grooves continuous with those of the side branches.
