Herb with ovoid bulbs. Leaves several, linear, flat, hairy below, shorter than stems. Inflorescence to 40 cm, stem solid. Flowers numerous, 3 mm long, star-shaped; summer.Tepals violet-purple, midvein darker.

Western China.

Sometimes grown in gardens as a border plant in full sun.
