Dendrobium linguiformis

Small epiphyte or epilith with creeping, branching rhizomes, mat-forming. Leaves elliptic to obovate, to 4 cm long, to 1.5 cm wide, thick and fleshy, furrowed, prostrate. Flowers 6-20, to 2.2 cm long, not widely opening, white to cream; spring. Sepals and petals narrow and pointed. Labellum distinctly 3-lobed, cream with purple markings. Dendrobium linguiforme Sw.

D. rigida (R. Br.) Rauschert from New Guinea and Qld is a small to medium sized epiphyte with ovate fleshy leaves and inflorescences of 2-7 small flowers that are mostly cream with reddish suffusions. Syn. Dendrobium rigidum R. Br.
