Drooping Prickly Pear

Shrub or small tree to several metres tall. Segments obovate to over 30 cm long and over 10 cm wide, shiny green. Glochids yellow to rust coloured. Spines 1–2(–10), mostly to 5 cm long. Flowers to about 5 cm wide, yellow sometimes tinged red on the outside. Fruit obovoid, to about 7 cm long, purplish.

Subtropical E South America

Naturalised in most states.
