Lastreopsis microsora (Endl.) Tindale

Creeping Shield Fern

Rhizomes creeping; scales dark brown to black. Blade ovate in outline, divided 3-4 times to about 30 cm long, pale green with soft white hairs on veins; stalks and midribs with white hairs and a few brown scales. Ultimate segments oblong, toothed. Sori round. Indusia roundish, pale brown, often with a dark centre. Can grow in cool areas.

Recognition: Whitish hairs on stalks and midribs; no tufts of hairs at junctions of branches and main axis; cf. L. calantha.

Australia (Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria); New Zealand.
