Fronds to 60 cm long, divided twice. Blade more or less ovate-triangular in outline, stiff, prickly and leathery, glossy above. Stalks to 30 cm long, almost as long as the blade. Sori round. Can grow in cool areas.

Recognition: Fronds leathery, shiny above; scales on axis linear to threadlike; stalks exceptionally long, nearly half the length of the frond which is more or less triangular in outline.
