Mall epiphyte. Pseudobulbs ovoid or spindle-shaped, to 10 cm long, compressed. Leaves solitary, oblong, to 13 cm long, to 2.5 cm wide. Flowers solitary, to 10 cm wide, usually deep pinkish-purple; spring or autumn. Sepals lanceolate. Petals ovate, somewhat wider than sepals. Labellum 3-lobed, side lobes embracing column, midlobe oblong to almost round, throat yellow.

L. jongheana Rchb. f. from Brazil is a small epiphyte with short, 1-leaved pseudobulbs and racemes of 1 or 2 mostly pink or white flowers to 12 cm wide.

L. sincorana Schltr. from Brazil is a small epiphyte or epilith with short, 1-leaved pseudobulbs and racemes of 1 or 2 mostly purplish flowers to 11 cm wid.

L. dayana Rchb. f. from Brazil is a small epiphyte with short, 1-leaved pseudobulbs and solitary, mostly pink flowers to 10 cm wide. Syn. L. pumila var. dayana Burbridge ex Dean.

L. speciosa (Humb., Bonpl. &Kunth) Schltr. from Mexico is a small epiphyte with short, 1-leaved pseudobulbs and racemes of 1 or 2 mostly deep pink flowers to 18 cm wide.
