Shrub to just over 1 m tall with branches from the stem bases. Ribs 14-20. Areoles well separated, central spines with 1-3 larger and up to 3 cm long, yellowish to brown; radial spines mostly 20-30; cephalium lateral, woolly white and with bristly spines. Flowers with perianth segments more or less erect. Fruit pinkish red.
