Silene chalcedonica (L.) E. H. L. Krause

Perennial to about 50 cm tall. Stems with rough hairs. Basal leaves forming a rosette with their bases surounding the stem. Flowers about 50 in a dense head. Sepals hairy. Petal lobes about 1.5 cm long with a notch in the tip, scarlet; the petal scales have hairy edges.
