A slow-growing, dense, stoloniferous ornamental shrub to 2 m tall. Leaves in 2 rows, small, about 2.5-3.5 cm long, densely distributed on the stem, elliptic-lanceolate, rough above. Used for rockeries and in bonsai. Recently introduced to Victoria. Named and introduced to commerce by Hilliers Nursery, England in 1967 as a hedging plant after its discovery in a private garden in Selly Park, Birmingham, England.
