Colchicum bulbocodium Ker Gawl.

Perennial herb from a short bulb-like corm. Leaves 3-4, linear-tapering, sheathing. Flowers solitary or 2-3, to 8.5 cm long; spring. Tepals pinkish-purple, rarely white.

Grown in full sun to light shade.

Pyrenees and the SW and C Alps.
