Thelionema caespitosum (R.Br.) R.J.F. Hend.

Clump-forming herb to 90 cm tall from a short rhizome. Stems, if present, to 3 cm. Leaves several, spreading, linear, leaf sheath papillose outside. Inflorescence an erect, cymose panicle. Flowers numerous, spreading, to 2 cm wide; spring. Tepals dark blue or white, rarely mauve, yellow. Anthers yellow. Syn. Stypandra caespitosa R. Br.

SE Qld to Tas and SE SA.

Mauve and white-flowered forms are sometimes encountered.

T. grande (C. White) R.J.F. Hend. From SE Qld and NSW is a clump-forming herb to 1.25 m from a short rhizome. Stems, if present, to 7 cm. Leaves several, spreading, broadly linear, leaf sheath smooth outside. Inflorescence an erect, cymose panicle. Flowers numerous, spreading, to 25 mm wide; spring.Tepals deep blue, rarely white. Anthers yellow. Syn. Stypandra grandis C.White.
