Tritonia lineata (Salisb.) Ker Gawl.

Stem few-branched, to 60 cm. Leaves to 30 cm long. Spike erect with 7-12 flowers; late spring. Spathe brown papery. Perianth funnel-shaped, cream or apricot-tinted with almost black veins; tube 10-15 mm; segments 18-25 mm, the dorsal one broader than the others. Stamens arched above style.

Natal, Swaziland,Transkei and Transvaal.

T. disticha (Klatt) Baker subsp. rubrolucens (R.C. Foster) de Vos from Natal, Swaziland,Transkei and Transvaal has a stem to 55 cm, usually unbranched. Leaves to 30 cm long. Spike with 6-12 flowers usually forming 2 rows; spring. Spathe brown papery. Perianth funnel-shaped; tube 12-18 mm long, yellow; segments oblong, acute, 12-18 mm long, bright pink veined purple, the lower 3 smaller with flat yellow calli . Stamens arched above style. Summer. Syn. T. rosea Klatt.
