Accepted name: Moraea galaxia

Leaves ovate, 2-4 cm long, 7-15 mm wide, flat. Flowers bell-shaped, yellow, 2.5-3 cm wide; early spring. Perianth tube 10-20 mm long; segments obovate, obtuse, 16-20 mm long. Stigmas fringed, far exceeding the erect anthers.

Cape Province.

G. stagnalis Goldblatt from the Cape is occasionally grown and has leaves linear to lanceolate. Flowers bell-shaped, yellow. Perianth tube 5-10 mm long; segments 10-15 mm long, ovate, obtuse; winter.
