Rosette perennial clump-forming herb with thickened roots from a short thick rhizome. Inflorescence to 50 cm, flowers in a dense panicle. Leaves linear to 50 cm long, sheathing, with some silky hairs. Flowers numerous, spreading, to 1.5 cm wide; summer. Tepals white, sometimes with red at tube mouth, with dense silky hairs.
