Laelia grandis Lindl. & Paxton

Medium sized epiphyte. Pseudobulbs club shaped, to 30 cm long. Leaves 1 or 2, oblong, to 35 cm long, to 4.5 cm wide. Flowers 2-5, to 14 cm wide, mostly pale yellowish-brown; spring to summer. Sepals lanceolate, margins wavy. Petals elliptic, somewhat wider than sepals, margins wavy. Labellum 3-lobed, side lobes embracing column, midlobe oblong with wavy margins, white or cream with purplish veins.

L. tenebrosa (Gower) Rolfe from Mexico is a medium sized epiphyte with long, 1-leaved pseudobulbs and racemes of 2-4 mostly dark copper-bronze flowers to 16 cm wide.
