Erect annual to about 0.5 m tall. Leaves alternate, ovate, to about 12 cm long, 6 cm wide, margin finely scalloped. Flowers 3-9 per cluster, lower ones in a false whorl, pouched, 3-4 cm long. Lower sepal white, with a short curved spur about 1 cm long. Petals white, lower lateral ones pink, upper petal hooded. Fruit capsule club-shaped.

Seeds prolifically and in Victoria has shown a tendency to naturalise.
