Episcia cupreata (Hook.) Hanst.

Flame Violet

Trailing herb to about 15 cm tall with hairy stolons. Leaves generally blistered above and purplish below with prominent venation. Flowers in clusters, the individual flowers on long hairy stalks, the corolla to 6 cm long, bright red, hairy outside, the 2 upper lobes bent backwards.

Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela

This species is available as assorted variegated leaf cultivars.
