Goldfish Vine

Trailing plant with rusty-haired stems. Leaves in unequal pairs, roundish to ovate, to 1 cm long, often reddish and hairy below. Flowers solitary. Corolla 7-8 cm long with an extended hooded lobe, red and yellow.

Costa Rica

 

C. gloriosa Sprague, Showy Column Flower, has been hybridised, the progeny having flowers of various colours (mostly orange and red) and leaves sometimes variegated.
