Perennial herb to 0.5 m tall, spreading or upright, hairy. Leaves opposite, to 4 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, ovate to elliptic, saw-toothed, hairy. Flower clusters axillary, opposite, to about 5 cm long, dense, erect; late spring to early summer. Flowers to about 8 mm wide, purplish blue.
