Accepted name: Maurandya barclayana

Hairless herbaceous climber. Leaves more or less triangular, to 4 cm or so long, 3.5 cm wide, mostly 5-toothed. Flowers with stalks 2-5 cm long. Sepals long-pointed and sticky-hairy. Corolla to about 4 cm long, purple, paler towards the base; spring to summer. Fruit capsule to 1 cm long with a persistent style. [Asarina barclaiana (Lindl.) Pennell]

The specific epithet is sometimes spelt barclayana

Widely naturalised worldwide and occasionally naturalised in Australia in coastal districts N of Sydney and into Queensland.

 

Maurandella antirrhiniflora (HBK) Rothm. is sometimes mistaken for this species.
