Spreading, variable shrub mostly to 2 m tall. Leaves oblong to linear-lanceolate, to 12 cm long, 5 cm wide, spreading or pointing downwards, entire or with a few minute teeth. Flower clusters lateral, to 15 cm long; summer. Flowers white to pale blue.

New Zealand

Includes many plants at one time placed in H. salicifolia but H. stricta has no leaf bud sinus.
