Gratiola officinalis L.

Gratiole

Rhizomatous perennial to about 50 cm tall. Stems hollow, 4-angled. Leaves linear to lanceolate, to 2.5 cm long, toothed towards the tip, base slightly stem-clasping. Corolla tube to about 2 cm long, the lobes white with purplish veins; summer.

Europe

 

G. peruviana L., native to New Zealand and S America is widespread in wet areas around Australia; it has ovate leaves and pale pink flowers and is occasionally available. [G. latifolia R. Br.]
