Bushy shrub mostly less than 1m tall. Leaves broadly ovate, with rounded saw teeth. Flowers mostly orange to scarlet, often paling slightly with age, shortly spurred, to about 2.5 cm wide; late spring. [A. grandiflora hort.]
Grown as an annual in cold climates but as a perennial in temperate areas, sometimes in dwarf, compact forms or as a pot plant.
