Caesalpinia spinosa (Mol.) O. Kuntze

Tree or large prickly shrub with warty stems and brown-hairy new growth. Leaves of 2-5 leaflets, each with 5-7 pairs of oblong segments that are dark-spotted below. Flower clusters dense, to about 20 cm long. Flowers yellow and reddish, the lower calyx lobe with an unusual comb-like margin. Fruit pods reddish,10-12 cm long.
