Deciduous shrub to about 3 m tall with arching branches felted at first. Leaves more or less ovate, 9 cm long, 3 cm wide, narrow, elliptic, margin finely toothed becoming red in autumn. Flowers fragrant, in erect felted spikes, cream; summer.
