Escallonia rosea Griseb.

Evergreen shrub to 3 m tall. Young shoots with downy hair, strongly angled and winged. Leaves to 2.5 cm long and 1 cm wide, narrowly obovate, pointed at the tip but tapering to the base; margin toothed. Flowers in axillary clusters, white, rarely reddish, fragrant; summer.
