Root-parasitic small trees or shrubs to 7 m tall. Leaves opposite, near opposite or occasionally verticillate, lanceolate, 2.5-10 cm long, stalkless. Flower clusters terminal, in 3s, the central flower of each 3 bisexual, the 2 lateral flowers male. Flowers with 6-8 petals, free, bright orange to golden yellow; spring to early summer. Stamens unequal. Fruit dry and 3-winged; seed sticky.
