Glorybush

Shrub with angled branches. Leaves mostly 5-7 cm long, 2.5-3.5 cm wide, hairy, more or less elliptic. Flower clusters of mostly 3-5 flowers. Floral bracts 2. Petals reddish purple, to about 3.5 cm long and wide. Stamens purple with small appendages. Syn. T. semidecandra (DC.) Cogn.

S Brazil.

T. organensis Cogn. has larger petals 5-6 cm long and 4 bracts per flower. Cultivars listed include 'Alstonville', 'Edwardsii', 'Elsa', 'Grandiflora' (not to be confused with T. grandifolia Cogn., which is also sometimes offered), 'Jules', 'Kathleen', 'Moonstruck' and 'Noelene'.
