Mexican Evening Primrose

Day-flowering perennial herb to about 50 cm tall with spreading rhizomes and upright stems. Basal leaves obovate to oblong-lanceolate, 2-9 cm long. Stem leaves both in basal rosette and along the stem where they are mostly ovate-elliptic,1-3 cm long, 0.5-2 cm wide, wavy-edged to deeply lobed, particularly towards the base of the stem. Flowers solitary and sessile in the upper leaf axils, nodding in bud; Oct-Jan. Petals 2.5-4 cm long, white to rose purple. Fruit capsule club-shaped, 1-1.5 cm long, 8-ribbed towards the top.

Naturalised in WA, Qld and NSW.
