Oenothera fruticosa L.

Sundrops

Day-flowering perennial herb with stems to about 60 cm tall, slender and with bristly hairs. Basal leaves oblanceolate. Stem leaves lanceolate. Flowers with petals 1.5-2.5 cm long. Fruit capsule narrowed towards the base, 6-12 mm long, narrow.

'Fireworks' Leaves tinged with purple. Flowers yellow. Syn. 'Feuerwerkeri', 'Fyrverkeri'.

E USA.

O. odorata Jacq. from S America is similar but has crisped, waxy leaves and is a night-flowering perennial.
