Fuchsia fulgens D C.

Tuberous shrubs to about 3 m tall. Young shoots squarish in section, hairy or not. Leaves opposite, more or less ovate, to about 15 cm long and 12 cm wide, the margin with fine red teeth. Flowers in pendulous terminal clusters; flower tube to about 6 cm long, narrowly funnel-shaped. Sepals more or less spreading, pale red with greenish tips. Petals erect, bright red. Fruit elongated, dark purple.
